JETRO JAXA Symposium to Promote Economic Co-Creation between Cambodia and Japan

Phnom Penh, Cambodia - The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) hosted a symposium on August 11th at the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh to promote cutting-edge technologies and innovation in Cambodia.

The event, which was held in conjunction with the 70th Anniversary of Friendship between Cambodia and Japan and the 50th Anniversary of Friendship between ASEAN and Japan, brought together representatives from eight Japanese companies that are developing innovative technologies in the areas of agriculture, emission detection and tracing, emission reduction, and forest conservation.

We are honored to be holding this co-creation networking symposium with JAXA," said Mr. Haruta, Director of JETRO Cambodia. "This is a great opportunity to showcase the latest Japanese technologies to Cambodia, and to discuss how we can work together to create new opportunities for co-creation."

The 8 Japanese companies’ representatives, including Agribuddy Ltd, Asuzato Singapore Pte Ltd/Asuene Inc (Japan), Grenn Carbon Inc, Nippon Koei Co., Ltd, Sagri Co., Ltd, Syspective Inc, Tenchijin Inc, And Yanmar Agribusiness Co., Ltd.

Mr. Haruta mentioned in his speech "The new Prime Minister of Cambodia stated that he wants to see innovation happen in Cambodia and that he wants to have many pilot projects related to this sector". (During the YEAC event)

The companies showcased their technologies to Cambodian government officials, organizations, and private representatives, and discussed how they could be used to help Cambodia achieve its development goals. The event also provided an opportunity for the companies to network with each other and with potential partners in Cambodia.

JETRO and JAXA hope that the symposium will help to strengthen the partnership between Japan and Cambodia in the field of science and technology and that it will lead to the development of new and innovative solutions to the challenges facing Cambodia.

"Just around a year ago, I met with Mr. Nakamura from JAXA, and we discussed whether we could collaborate to bring space tech-related companies that suit the needs of Cambodia".

"As we recognize, Cambodia is a very flexible country that seizes opportunities to pioneer new technological frontiers, such as its remarkable adoption of blockchain technology to launch the digital currency Bakong. Not only that, we see a lot of user-friendly technologies, including payment, mobility, and delivery services." Mr. Haruta mentioned this in his speech.

Notably, this event isn't solely about showcasing advanced technologies; it's also about fostering partnerships and networking opportunities between Cambodian and Japanese firms. A diverse range of sectors, including Conglomerates, Agriculture, Green Technology, Agriculture Cooperative, Banking & Microfinance, Agriculture.

The symposium was a great success and it is clear that there is a lot of potential for collaboration between Japan and Cambodia in the field of science and technology. The event has helped to raise awareness of the latest technologies and has created new opportunities for partnerships and cooperation.
